Sometimes

Sometimes
Linda Steward

sometimes it goes smooth
sometimes it don’t

some nights I sleep in a puddle
most nights I won’t

but if you’d been there with me
would you have seen what I see

the best-quest answer is “maybe”

where are the white tunics
I need someone to save me

fly a new flag
give it all that you have

that’s what they can’t understand
in the holy land

that place in the dark
alone in noah’s ark
I promised Him art

may I not fall thru

twenty liters too short
with twelve miles to go

gotta deal with that
and don’t ya dare [sing/fall] flat
or they won’t invite us back

but you and I
we’ve been through that

twenty years pass fast
light a lil’ fuse and flash

made some cash
gave all of it back

did I ruin the lot
my dear, I think not

follow the money
back to daddy and mommy

lovey-dovey rub my tummy
feed me stories and organic honey

send me back out again
into the heart of the holy land…
