Long Before the Beginning
Baby I'm tired,
there's a wild fire rising higher.
Did you come to comfort or kill
or are you looking for a blue-kinda pill?
Funny how the windows at night
glow bright with light.
I pretend it don't matter - but the truth is, it do.
What a thing it is to hear your voice
and to see you too.
We nearly touch, then I wake up -
cold-stone and alone.
Hope to see you again soon.
Love will work it all out in the end.
At the end we have been
since our beginning.
Each night my heavy eyes
meet a water-gate of sighs
I hope to realize
I hope to remember
I hope to forget.
A hard-learned lesson:
It ain't gonna be the way I expect.
I don't always gotta like it
but by grace
I learn to accept it.
And that, my dear,
is a tremendous gift.
