Hot Enough

Hot Enough

the day just isn’t hot enough
and the night just isn’t long enough

I’m not ready for the cold
and pretending to be old

when those around me
are clearly doing better than me

that’s unsettling
you see

where’s what I
in this big bag of trix

when the weather goes icy
and there’s no phonin’ home

and though you may roam
there ain’t nothin’ you own

let me end this different
let me remember it better

let me comment not about the weather
be it drier or wetter

this I’ve been shown
to each his own

and remember that the goldilocks zone
is where you call home

celestial echos
terrestrial hollows

giving way
to shadows in hot zones

by the time my armour falls off
I pray you’re ready to get off

because over a thousand miles
separates this from that

and though it won’t be simple
I’d like to go back…
