Drum Beats

I could write about renegades
and big parades

roll the dice
hope you like what I say

but if every outcome
comes out better
to the beat of a drum

one and two and three and four
am I coming or going
thru the open door

but let’s just say
I like it this way
at least for today

something about reverb and echo
piano playin’ solo
and oh that vocal

from the silent place
invades my inner space
another gift called grace

maybe we could try again next year
sure there are fears
and no finish-line to tears

but what used to hurt
so heavy and hard
now hurts so good

and that’s a tremendous gift
that Love has given…
